Halloween 2009
Halloween with Indiana Jones and Skeleton Boy.
During the night, Isaac says "I need to take a dump" when his plastic pumpkin is too full and needs to be emptied into his backpack.
FRONT PORCH: When the doorbell is pressed, a bell rings. Then the porch lights go out. Then they start strobing, and alternating bells ring (left and right), faster and faster, to confuse the victims. Then all of a sudden, everything goes black and quiet.... and after 4 seconds, a really loud horn blasts them from behind, and the lights turn back on. I got a few little kids to cry, and I scared way more people than last year. Total cost for the light and sound automation and lawn mower pumpkin meat-grinder: $0.00 .
Lessons learned:
1) People expected Skull-Head to do something (he didn't) - but that raised their tension.
2) People don't like to be left in the dark - it's disconcerting.
3) The louder the sounds, and the younger the kids, the greater the effect.
Time spent designing and building everything: ~10 hours.
